My True Thoughts

HOW LITTLE WE KNOW

HOW LITTLE WE KNOW

BY

HELEN CONSTANTINE

How many paths must one soul take

Before earths binding shackles, shatter or break

How many paths must we take

How well do we listen, if by chance we hear

Sacred sounds slithering through the sinuous air

How well do we listen, if ever we hear

How blind are we, when we seldom see

All that's meant to be, for you and me

How blind can we be

How fierce are the fiery flames

That fuses fate to fortune, failure, or fame

How do we know, how little we know?

How little do we know of the powers we cannot contain

Or the forces of nature none can restrain

How do we know, how little we know

How little do we know of shattered souls and hearts

With lives and minds that’s torn apart

Where best to start, what do we impart?

 How little we know

How little we know of divine divinity

Artless love and deep serenity

Joyous joy and fearless fear,

Or saintly beings beyond and within this mortal sphere

How little we know.
